Our project for 'Stichting De Eenzame Uitvaart' is an initiative that uses design to communicate a profound message about loneliness. The chair in the shape of a cocoon serves as a  metaphor, visually representing the isolation experienced by lonely individuals. This symbolic representation not only captures the essence of loneliness but also invites reflection and empathy from those who encounter the installation.

The fact that loneliness affects approximately 1.5 million people in the Netherlands underscores the urgency of addressing this issue. By choosing a design that mirrors a cocoon, we convey the sense of isolation and encapsulation experienced by lonely individuals.

The metaphor of a cocoon also implies the potential for transformation and emergence, suggesting that there is hope and opportunity for those struggling with loneliness to break free from their isolation. The decision to use this metaphor across various mediums, including image, installation, and branding, shows a thoughtful and comprehensive approach to raising awareness. Consistent messaging across different channels can help amplify the impact of the campaign and foster a deeper understanding of the issue.
